Infidelity and Hypnotherapy

Mr and Mrs B came to see me for my Couples Hypnotherapy course. They were navigating some challenges in getting on track after an infidelity. Both parties wanted to leave it in the past but were struggling with jealousy and intrusive thoughts keeping them in a loop of misery. Disconnection in a relationship can be incredibly difficult.  I have accumulated and integrated interdisciplinary knowledge to provide the best service to clients seeking relief from the chaos and stress in their current relationships.

Mr and Mrs B saw me for a total of four weekly sessions initially. Then for sessions around once a month as I watched their relationship flourish, enter a new stage of contentedness and security. It was a joy to hear they had moved back in together and feeling happier than they had for a long time. They had relearned how to listen to each other and rediscovered why this relationship was special to them.

We worked through the ideas around affairs- those transient, often time limited arrangements that are emotionally very different to the complexities and vulnerabilities we explore in relationships. This enabled the couple to see that their goal was shared- to strengthen the relationship and learn from the misery both had endured when an arrangement had temporarily threatened it.

Both reported that they had rekindled positive memories. The first session starts with what is already working. The mind seems to feed off negativity, recognising and acting upon it much faster than positivity. However, the mind can be trained to be positive – we have neuroplasticity to thank for that so it is a skill that can be learned. The Solution Focused questioning and the homework tasks with hypnotherapy allowed Mr and Mrs B to revisit those happy early days. You too can remind yourselves of what drew you together initially. This can reignite feelings of love and appreciation.

The second session focused on identifying Communication Blocks and Strategies: Hypnotherapy can help unearth subconscious anxieties or past hurts that might be hindering open communication. By understanding these, you can address them constructively.

The sessions helped the couple to boost empathy and understanding: Solution Focused questioning sessions can put you in each other’s shoes, fostering empathy and understanding for each other’s perspectives.

Mr and Mrs B reported that they had let go of resentment: Holding onto past hurts creates walls. Hypnotherapy can help you release negative emotions which are often way beyond language and are part of our subconscious experience. They were able to move forward together.
